HIGH FREQUENCY RESISTANCE WELDING OF SPACER RIBS TO ZIRCALOY-2-CLAD UO$sub 2$ FUEL COMPONENTS
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4790473
A high-frequency resistance-welding process was developed for continuous welding of spacer ribs to 8-foot lengths of Zircaloy-2 fuel cladding. Studies in the past year demonstrated that such welding is practical and structurally sound. Welds between the ribs and fuel cladding have high strength, adequate corrosion resistance, and the ribbed cladding is within specified dimensional limits. The process was adapted to 19-rod cluster and nested tubular fuel elements for the PRTR. (auth)
