A lubricating oil which is resistant to radioinduced increases in viscosity comprises a mineral lubricating oil containing a minor proportion of an oil-soluble benzene ring-containing polymer. The polymer preferably is a hydrocarbon polymer of molecular weight 50,000 to 100,000, especially an alkylated polystyrene containing 1 to 3 alkyl radicals per styrene unit, and the preferred proportion of the polymer to the oil is 0.5to 1 wt%.
