A lubricating grease is described which is relatively resistant to radiation and hot carbon dioxide. The grease comprises a mineral oil of viscosity index less than 75 and containing more than 30 wt% aromatics, mixed with 5 to 40 wt% of carbon black. Preferably, 0.1 to 5 wt% of an oil-soluble ashless detergent is also added. (D.L.C.)
