ON THE FIELD ERRORS AT LOW MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE A. C. MAGNETS FOR A SYNCHROTRON

The magnetic fields near the injection field of the synchrotron magnet were investigated with the peaking strips. The errors of the field at low magnetic field are introduced by the residual magnetism of the magnet. There was no evidence of the eddy current effect on the field errors. It was found that the field irregularities at low field were considerably affected by the mechanicals stress applied to the yoke. The azimuthal field bump was within plus or minus 0.1 gauss rms, and the fluctuation of the field index at the central field of 50 gauss was plus or minus 0.4% rms on the central electron orbit.
