ON THE LOW MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE MAGNET FOR THE INS-1 GEV ELECTRON SYNCHROTRON

The performance of the low field in the magnet of the Institute of Nuclear Study 1-Gev Electron Synchrotron is described. The orbit displacement and the stop-band width in the stability pattern due to the field errors at the injection field are discussed and estimated. All the measurements of the magnetic field were carried out with peaking strips. The method of the field measurements and the calibration of the bias coils for the peaking strips are described. The azimuthal distribution of the field, the phase lag of the zero field between unit magnets, radial distribution of the field, magnet-end field, operation point in the stability pattern and correction of the field index, and orbit errors due to field errors at low field were determined.
