A boiler for producing vapor by heating with a hot gas, e.g., from a reactor, is designed for hot gases under pressure. The boiler comprises a cylindrical pressure vessel containing an upper vapor space, a lower vapor generating space, and a vapor-liquid separating drum situated therebetween. The advantages of the boiler are that the equipment can be assembled as a unit and then inserted into the pressure vessel, and that the hot gas, confined to the vapor generating tubes, does not exent pressure on the pressure vessel.
