of Zr or an alloy thereof to one of the materials Zr, Zr alloys, Fe, C, steel, stainless steel, U, ceramics, and cermets. The brazing alloy consists of 6 to 9 wt% Ni; 6 to 9 wt% of Cr, Mo, or W; 0 to 7.5 wt% Fe; and the balance Zr. One preferred composition is 8 wt% Ni, S wt% Cr, and balance Zr, and another preferred composition for brazing Zr to Fe is 6 wt% Ni, 6 wt% Cr, 6 wt% Fe, and balance Zr. Three examples are given for the use of the brazing alloy in Zr-clad reactor fuel elements and heat exchanger headers. (D.L.C.)
