ZIRCONIUM-BASE BRAZING ALLOYS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4128364

Corrosion-resistant brazing alloys for use in the joining of Zr-base alloy members are suggested. The brazing alloys contain 3 to 8% Be and at least one metal additive selected from the group consisting of Cu, Fe, and a Cu and Co combination in a Zr-base master alloy containing up to 2.5%, Sn, up to 2% of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ni, and Cr, C not exceeding 0.05%, and the balance at least 94% Zr with less than 0.5% by weight of incidental impurities. The brazing alloys have a melting point of approximately 820 deg C and form a wellbonded joint without the use of a flex. (A.G.W.)
