Excitation functions for ( gamma d) and ( gamma p) reactions on B/sup 10/ and Be/sup 9/ nuclei are presented. The ( gamma ,d) cross section is shown to have a considerable magnitude only for gamma energies exceeding the reaction threshold by a value approximately equal to the binding energy of the nucleon in the residual nucleus.
