ON THE APPLICATION OF STOCHASTIC ACCELERATION TO A SYNCHROCYCLOTRON

The use of an auxiliary dee at the center of a synchrocyclotron fed by either noise of a carefully programmed frequency-time signal is examined with the object of increasing the internal beam intensity. The experimental results are in fair agreement with the predicted performance of such a scheme. No significant gain in beam intensity was achieved using either of the schemes described. (auth)
