USE OF THE AUTOCORRELATION PRINCIPLE IN VERY HIGH-ENERGY CYCLIC ACCELRATORS (in Russian)

Discovery of the phase stability made it possible to design accelerators with a weakly-focusing magnetic field capable of reaching levels of several Bev. The recently developed automatic regulation of the local characteristics of the magnetic field resulted in the reduction of the cross section of the chamber, allowing increase of the energy while simplifying the design of the system. Perturbance pulses creating coherent betatron oscillations were used for measuring the frequency of the betatron oscillations. A method involving the first revolution'' during which the magnetic field is not adjusted yet is reviewed, using it for computing the parameters of small-aperture 300- and 1000Bev accelerators. As an example, a 3-cascade accelerator is described; it consists of an initial 50-Mev linear accelerator, similar to the CERN machine, a small, severalBev circular pre-accelerator and a large small-aperture circular accelerator.
