RADIOSENSITIVITY OF MICE OF INBRED STRAINS

Of all 4 similar strains subjected to irradiation, mice of C/sub 57/Bl/b strain showed the minimum LD/sub 50//sub 30/. The average survival rate after irradiation with 600 r (which is near LD/sub 100/) was longest in C/sub 3/H strain. However, the mortality frequency was distributed over a relatively long period showing two peaks in C/sub 57/Bl miee, while the A, C/sb 3/., and C/sub 57/ strains showed only one peak in the mortality curve. The grade of loss of body- weight was approximately parallel to the radiation dose given, and was related to the radiosensitivity in that strain. No difference of radiosensitivity was recognized between males and females. The radiosensitivity was higher in young animals than in older. (Abstr. Japan Med., 2, No. 2, Feb. 1962)
