RADIATION LEVELS OF THE PRIMARY SYSTEM OF PWR. Test Evaluation, DLCS- 36501

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4784931
Radiation levels of the PWR hairpin loop are in general indicative of the trend of overall plant contamination behavior. The highest rate of activity buildup occurs during initial exposure of the loop piping to coolant flow, indicating that the buildup mechanism may be related to corrosion rate. Co/sup 60/ activity on the hairpin loop is below that observed on the main loop piping, probably because of a distance effect. There is some indication that this spread in activity is decreasing with time in operation. Specific activity of the Co/ sup 60/ in the hairpin loop apparently attained an equilibrium value during early Core 1, Seed 2 life. (auth)
