PROCESS FOR THE REMOVAL OF HEAT DEVELOPED IN A NUCLEAR REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4783494

A reactor is described in which the removal of the developed heat is performed by a vaporizable fluid, this fluid passing in a circuit from a point of the highest fluid pressure to a point of the lowest fluid pressure. The circuit is closed by bringing the fiuid in a liquid state from the point of the lowest pressure to the point of the highest pressure in the circuit. The fluid in the liquid state is first vaporized and afterwards led through a series of successive passages provided in the reactor. The vaporized fluid passes once or several times through the reactor where it is reheated. After a part of these passages the fluid is recooled in boilers in which the heat removed from the fluid is used to vaporize the fluid after it is brought up to a high pressure. Preferably a sole boiler is used for vaporizing the fluid. The recooling also may be carried out by injection of fluid in the liquid state into the vaporized fluid to be recooled. (NPO)
