A graphite moderator structure is designed with allowance for shrinkage under irradiation at high temperatures. The allowance comprises the provision of spaces between the blocks in the reflector ring around the core; if the core shrinks, the restraint means will urge the ring to move toward the core center, (D.L.C.)
