The effect of real time pricint (RTP) on TES systems

With the onset of deregulation of electrical utilities it is interesting to speculate what the future will bring and how it affects existing and potential new thermal energy storage projects. The differences between typical time-of-use rate schedules and a real time pricing rate schedule are explained and graphed for better understanding. The effects of the RTP schedule on TES systems are summarized.
