A method is given for manufacturing a long heat exchanger tube with inner and outer walls. The method comprises staggering short lengths of inner and outer tubes so that butt welding of two inner tube ends can be done first, followed by butt welding of the outer tube ends, and subjecting the inner tubes to internal fluid pressure to expand them against the outer tubes.
