Progress is reported in studies on the genetic effects of x radiation in Drosophila. Data are presented on radiation damage, as measured by mutation rates at specific visible autosomal loci, of male germ cells of two species of Drosophila. Emphasis was placed on the comparative mutation rates of gametes in different stages of maturation at the time of radiation exposure. (C.H.)
