DOUBLE COULOMB EXCITATION IN EVEN NUCLEI TABLES OF CROSS-SECTION FUNCTIONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4779633
The theory of double Coulomb excitation was previously developed in the review article of Alder, Bohr, Huus, Mottelson, and Winther in the semi-classical approach using second order perturbation theory. This formalism is applied to double E2 excitation in even nuclei. Tables are given of the functions required to calculate the total and differential cross sections for double E2 excitation from the spin 0 ground state by way of a spin 2 intermediate state, to a final state of spin J, J = 0, 2, 4. Only one intermediate state is considered of importance. Also tabulated are certain auxtliary functions. (auth)
