INHIBITION OF RESPIRATORY ACTIVITY OF SHIGELLA SONNEI BY ULTRAVIOLET IRRADIATION

Journal Article · · Proc. Soc. Exptl. Biol. Med.
The respiratory activity of Shigella sonnei was inhibited by uv irradiation. A direct relationship existed between uv dosage and extent of inhibition. The inhibition of respiratory activity varied considerably with different substrates. Irradiated cells which were disrupted by mechanical shaking with glass beads lost practically all respiratory activity. (auth)
