The quasilinear plasma theory describes the dynamics of the interaction of resonance particles with waves; these processes may be considered when the energy of plasma oscillations is considerably smaller than the thermal energy of all the particles while simultaneously exceeding slightly the energy of thermal noises generated by the plasma waves. The theory involves the separation of the distribution function of the particles into rapidly oscillating and slowly changing portions, calculating the effect of the mean square of the oscillating portion on the slowly changing fraction making use of a method similar to Van der Pol's nonlinear mechanics. Processes taking place in a plasma with collective excited degrees of freedom, -- such as the growth of the noise in the unstable plasma, interaction of the charged-particle beam with the plasma and the extinction of the plasma wave, -- are taken into consideration. The properties of the stationary, slightly turbulent state which arises in the plasma when a current passes through it, are examined together with the anomalous transversal diffusion of the plasma in a magnetic field. Attention is given also the the threshold absorption'' of highamplitude waves, leading to the collision-free heating of the particles. The quasilinear theory may be useful for solving the following problems: dynamics of the formation of instabilities which cause uniformization of the distribution function; study of three-dimensional spectra and the development of inhomogeneities, and study of the nonlinear approximation by making use of the hydrodynamic characterization of the system.
