BS>A photoelectric effect with positive ions, which can be observed on a layer of potassium adsorbed on platinum, is reported. In the irradiation of such a layer the thermal ion currert flowing from the surface of the platinum is altered. In certain regions of the energy distribution, the ions emitted cause a photoemission, supplementary to the thermal emission. In other regions of the energy distribution, the reduction of the thermal ion current produced by the light can be observed. Both effects occur at wave lengths larger than those necessary for the ionization of potassium in the gaseous phase. The apparatas is described and the results are discussed. (tr-auth)
