CURRENT CONCEPTS IN RADIATION PROTECTION. PART 1

Journal Article · · J. Am. Med. Assoc.

By distilling the best of current scientific evidence and opinion, the Federal Radiation Council has developed concepts, practical procedures, a realistic terminology, and specific radiation protection guides for official agencies concerned with environmental radiation protection. It is important that practicing physicians become familiar with the principles enunciated by the council, together with its recommended guides for fall-out radiation dosages and the ranges at which protective actions may have to be considered. Based on available evidence and authoritative predictions, present and foreseeable levels do not warrant any actions by governmental agencies designed to reduce human intake of the radioactive substances being added to the environment by such tests.
