LUTETIUM CHLORIDES AND HYDROXIDES (in Russian)

Solubilities and properties of basic Lu chlorides and oxides were studied by measuring three variables. The isobar-isothermal potentials of difficultly soluble compounds formed by adding caustic soda to lutetium chloride in the presence of sodium chloride at 25 deg C were measured. In freshly prepared systems the formula Lu(OH)/sub 2/Cl describes the equilibrium, and after 50 days the formula changes to Lu(OH)/sub 2.5/Cl/sub 0.5/. Later the system converts into lutetium hydroxide. (R.V.J.)
