THE GYROMAGNETIC RATIO OF THE FIRST ROTATIONAL STATE IN Hf$sup 17$$sup 8$

Journal Article · · Arkiv Fysik

The g-factor of the 93-kev state in Hf/sup 178/ is measured by observation of the shift of the angular correlation in external magnetic fields of 45,700 and 25,200 gauss. The result is g = +0.29 plus or minus 0.02. A time-dependent electric quadrupole perturbation is found in the source used by means of an attenuation measurement. The corresponding integral attenuation factors are used for corrections to the omega T-value. The lifetime of the 93- kev state is found to be T = 2.16 plus or minus 0.04 nsec. The result is in agreement with theoretical predictions. (auth)
