SEPARATION OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF TANTALUM FROM NIOBIUM BY THE EXTRACTION OF TETRAPHENYLARSONIUM FLUOROTANTALATE (in Russian)

It was established that Ta as fluorotantalate forms a compound with tetraphenylarsonium chloride, which can be extracted with chloroform. By means of a radioactive isotope, Ta/sup 182/, a study was made of the effect of the NaF concentration, and of the concentration of tetraphenylarsonium chloride, HCl, and H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/ on the percent extraction of Ta. It was found that Ta can be quantitatively separated from Nb, Ti, and Zr by the extraction of tetraphenylarsonlum fluorotantalate with chloroform. (auth)
