HALDEN OPERATING AND RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Journal Article · · Nuclear Power
OSTI ID:4772294
The present 41/2-year program started in July 1958 and will end in Dec. 1962. Reactor statics experiments were carried out on the first fuel charge: void reactivity coefficients, temperature reactivity effects, flux distortion due to steam voids, effects of enriched spike elements, and control rod measurements. Dynamic measurements of the power transfer function show excellent reactor stability. Two theoretical models are given for the interpretation of dynamic measurements. The effects of reactor operation on D/sub 2/O quality, activity levels, and fuel elements are described briefly. The second fuel charge was inserted in March 1962, and the future program of operation and research is outlined. (D.L.C.)
