Fully deuteriated DNA was isolated from Escherichia coli grown in a fully deuteriated nutrient medium (99 6% D/sub 2/O with fully deuteriated substrates). The melting temperature of this DNA was found to be essentially identical with that of ordinary DNA in both H/sub 2/O and D/sub 2/O solutions. (auth)
