In the radiolysis of liquid acetone in hydrogen or oxygen atomospheres, the acid products formed were analyzed. The property of acetone permits the individual acid or acid products to be determined by potentiometric titration. In such a manner it was established that in the oxidation radiolysis, formic acid (yield 1.11 molecule/100 ev), acetic acid (yield 1.95 molecule/100 ev), and carbon dioxide (yield 2.19 molecule/100 ev) are produced. In irradiation of acetone saturated with hydrogen, acetic acid has a yield of 0.71 molecule/100 ev. It was shown that the enol form of acetone plays a significant role in the oxidation radiolysis of acetone. (tr-auth)
