APPARATUS FOR GENERATING THERMONUCLEAR ENERGY BY FUSION OF ATOM NUCLEI

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4771315
An annular current conductor for generating a confining magnetic field is designed with its connection leads shaped so that there is no net field tending to force the leads apart. The leads are caused to follow a divergent path away from the conductor loop, the distance between the leads being equal to mu /sub 0/I/2 pi B/sub 0/, where mu /sub 0/ = 4 pi x 10/sub -7/, I = cur rent density, and B/sub 0/ = magnetic field intensity. Thus, the B/sub 0/ at any point in one lead is canceled by a field from the current passing in the other lead. (D.L.C.)
