ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT ON RADIOBIOLOGY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4770534
Data are presented from a series of long-term studies on the toxic effects of radioisotopes in dogs. Biological effects and radiological findings are summarized. Results are included from studies on the plasma concentration and excretion of injected Ra/sup 226/, the excretion of Ra/sup 224/ and Th/sup 228/, Rn escape from bone containing Ra, the retention of Ra and Rn in beagles, measurements of exhaled thoron after the injection of Th/sup 228/, the plasma concentration of Sr/sup 90/ at various times after injection, and a comparative study on the metabolism of Ca/sup 45/ and Ra/sup 226/ in dogs, with emphasis on deposition in old and new bone.
