Journal Article · · Tsvetnye Metally
OSTI ID:4769820
>An improved chlorination method using dry'' fractional condensation of sublimed chlorides is suggested for niobium concentrates containing 36.2 to 36.5% TiO/sub 2/, 8.45 to 8.55% Nb/sub 2/O/sub 5/ to 0.57% Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5/, 28.64 to 31.18% rare earths, 1.57 to 3.04% Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3/, 0.87 to 4.76% Al/ sub 2/O/sub 3/, 2.5 to 5.87% SiO/sub 2/, 9.86% NaO + K/sub 2/O, 5.94 to 7.92% CaO, or 0.15% P. The scheme and operation of the installation is described. The method eliminated the complicated equipment for pulp separation, reduced the content of carbon in coke from 18 to 20% to 12 to 13%, reduced the consumption of oil coke about 30%, and increased the working capacity of the furnace 6%.
