MICROGRAPHIC STUDY OF METAL DEPOSITS ON INCANDESCENT FILAMENTS (in Spanish)

Journal Article · · Anales Real Soc. Espan. Fis. Quim. (Madrid), Ser. B
OSTI ID:4769729

Metal purification by Van Arkel's method is studied. Experimental evidence shows that the process along a VI/sup 1/3/ = const. line is not isothermal. Temperature dependence of grain size and nonmetillic inclusions are studied. Isothermal processes can be obtained if the equation VI/sup alpha / = const. is followed, where the value of alpha depends on deposition temperature and initial diameter of the filament. These values may vary between 1/4.3 and 1/ 5.5. All experiments have been carried out by deposition of zirconium on hot tungsten filaments. (auth)
