A NEW HOLMIUM ACTIVITY WITH 11.5-MINUTE HALF LIFE (in German)

After irradiation of terbium oxide wtth 85-Mev alpha particles, a new activity with a half life of 11.5 plus or minus 0.5 rain was observed with a complex gamma spectrum. The activity was assigned to isotope Ho/sup 158/ produced by Tb/sup 159/( alpha 5n)Ho/sup 158/ The irradiation conditions were briefly described, and the atomic number was determined by separation of the neighboring rare earths in an ion exchanger. A second activity of 29 plus or minus 2 min was detected and assigned to the isomer Ho/sup 158m/. (J.S.R.)
