CHEMICAL PROTECTION AGAINST IONIZING RADIATIONS. REPORT 1. PROTECTIVE EFFECT OF MEG AGAINST X-IRRADIATION MORTALITY OF MICE (in Japanese)

Journal Article · · Proceedings of Research Institute for Nuclear Medicine and Biology (Japan)
OSTI ID:4767086
various amounts of MEG/sub Br/ (mercaptoethylguandine) and of AET/sub Br/ (S, BETA -aminoethylisothiuronium Br, HBr) at neutral pH were administred intraperitoneally to mice (ddc strain) exposed to whole-body irradiation of 800 r of x rays. the most effective dose were 190 mg/kg for MEG/sub Br/ and 250 to the the body weight of the irradiated animals remained virtually unchanged. No difference attributable to sex were observed ub Br/. The AET/sub Br was found to be most effective when injected 30 minutes before the start of the irradiation. (TTT)
