SOLID SOLUTIONS OF RARE EARTH ORTHO SILICATES AND STRONTIUM ORTHOSILICATES (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Neorgan. Khim.
OSTI ID:4765566
S>Limited-solubility solid solutions were formed in Sr(SiO/sub 4/) - La/ sub 4/(SiO/sub 4/)/sub 3/, Sr/sub 2/(SiO/sub 4/) - Nd/sub 4/ (SiO/sub 4/)/sub 3/, and Sr/sub 2/(SiO/sub 4/) Y/sub 4/(SiO/sub 4/)/sub 3/. Homogeneous regions were found in strontium orthosilicates with 100 to 85 wt % La/sub 4/(SiO/sub 4/)/sub 3/ , 100 to 85 wt % Nd/sub 4/(SiO/sub 4/)/sub 3/, and 100 to 80 wt % Y/sub 4/(SiO/ sub 4/)/sub 3/. In solid solutions with higher contents of La, Nd, and Y orthosilicate the refractive indices increase and the melting temperatures drop. (R.V.J.)
