Dimethyl ether forms with hydrochloric acid an addition compound which distills at its boiling point of 0.6 deg C as (CH/sub 3/)/sub 2/ 0.88 HCl. Under these conditions, the vapor is dissociated approximately 75% so that the so- called exchange distillation can be accomplished. The deuterium was enriched with an elementary separation factor of 1.051, which has a positive temperature coefficient. The heavy oxygen isotope O/sup 18/ was enriched with an elementary separation factor of 1.006 in the liquid phase. (tr-auth)
