Ultraviolet fluorescence microscopy was used in studies on cells from the bone marrow and circulating blood of rats exposed to a lethal dose of 900 r x radiation. Investigations made 4 hr after irradiation showed marked changes in the ultraviolet fluorescence of the formed elements of both the bone marrow and circulating blood when compared with cells from normal animals. Increased fluorescence of cells of the myeloid series was observed in rats 16 mo after exposure to doses of 500 r x radiation. (C.H.)
