A METHOD OF TIMING THE OPERATIONS OF A DIGITAL COMPUTING SYSTEM

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4763846
One method of timing the writing onto and the reading from a drum-type memory system in which the recirculating registers are tracks on the drum is discussed. The input and output operations require certain exchanges of information by means of timing signals. The computer tells the input or output device to start, and the input or output device tells the computer when it has finished. The physical separation between the read and write heads on the recirculating tracks also influences the timing of the computer operations. (auth)
