A radiation source for irradiating packages is designed in which the difficulties of loading and unloading of the source are minimized. The source comprises a plurality of closed containers for enclosing radioactive material and arranged in a spaced parallel arrangement within a tiltable frame member. A latch member is provided for holding the frame in a ventical position during irradiation or for tilting the frame during container loading and unloading. (D.L.C.)
