A Determination of the Gyromagnetic Ratio of the Proton

Journal Article · · Proceedings of the Royal Society. A. Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences
The gyromagnetic ratio of the proton is measured by observing the precessional frequency of the protons of a sphere of water in a field of 10 to 20 Oe. The result, uncorrected for diamagnetism, is 28751.71 emu(cgs), referred to the unit of electric current maintained by standard resistances and standard cells. The 50% or probable' systematic error is estimated to be 2 in 106 and the interquartile range of 40 observations is 3 in 106.
