IONIZATION-EQUILIBRIUM EQUATION OF STATE. III. RESULTS WITH DEBYE-HUCKEL CORRECTIONS AND PLANCK'S PARTITION FUNCTION

The complete solution to Saha's equation has been corrected by the simultaneous computation of the DebyeHuckel correction to the ionization potentials and Planck's theoretical partition functions. Results are given for hydrogen, helium, lithium, and carbon in a temperaturedensity region of stellar interest. It is shown that an ionization-equilibrium equation of state with Debye-Huckel corrections and Planck's partition functions is quite adequate for the study of atmospheres and interiors of nondegenerate or slightly degenerate stars and the atmospheres and envelopes of degenerate stars.
