THE g-FACTOR OF THE 2.083-Mev 4$sup +$ STATE OF Ce$sup 14$$sup 0$

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters
The g-factor of the 2.083-Mev 4/sup +/ level in Ce/sup 140/, populated in the decay of La/sup 140/, was determined by using the correlation of the 329- 487-kev cascade. Three measurements were made that yielded an average g-factor of g(2.085) = +1.83 plus or minus 0.18. The results indicate that the 2.083-Mev level has d/sup 5/2/ proton subshell character rather than- the expected g/sup 7/ 2/ character.. (H.D.R.)
