Measurement of the nuclear g factor of the 19/2/sup -/ isomer in /sup 139/Ce

The g factor of 19/2/sup -/ state in /sup 139/Ce has been measured by the method of the differential perturbed angular distribution of 1607-keV ..gamma.. rays from the reaction /sup 137/Ba(..cap alpha..,2n)/sup 139/Ce: g = +0.405(8). For the portion of the ..gamma.. spectrum near 269 keV we have obtained the value g..beta.. = 0.285(15) at T = 300 K, which presumably corresponds to the 10/sup +/ state in /sup 140/Ce. The result for the 19/2/sup -/ state in /sup 139/Ce agrees with the calculated value for the configuration (4/sup +/ /sup 140/Ce x ..nu..h/sup -1//sub 11/2/ )(19/2/sup -/).
