ABSOLUTE PRECISION DETERMINATION OF SEVERAL RESONANCE AND THRESHOLD ENERGIES AND THE /cap alpha/ PARTICLES ENERGY OF Po$sup 210$. PART II

Improved precision measurements of the energy and half-value width of Al/ sup 27/(p, gamma )Si/sup 28/ and F/sup 19/(p, alpha , gamma )O/sup 1 6/ resonances in contrast with earlier studies are described. The new magnetic 180 deg spectrometer has 0.04- or 0.11-mm wide slit with 1-m orbit diameter. The measurement results agree within statistical deviation with the theoretical yield curves determined by a balancing calculation. The resonance energies measured on thick targets are 871.80 plus or minus 0.25 kev for fluorine and 991.83 plus or minus 0.10 kev for aluminum. The half-value width is shown to be 4.8 plus or minus 0.2 kev and 100 plus or minus 20 ev respectively. (tr-auth)
