METHODS FOR THE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF THORIUM AND TETRAVALENT URANIUM BY MEANS OF THE AZODYE SOLOCHROME FAST GREY R.A.S.

Two methods are described for the spectrophotometric determination of microgram amounts of thorium and tetravalent uranium in mixed solvents employing the azodye Solochrome Fast Grey R.A.S. as the photometric reagent. These two elements react with the dyestuff in hydrochloric acid and acetate-buffered methanolic solution respectively forming colored complexes which can be applied for the quantitative spectrophotometric determination of both thorium and uranous ions. 5 mu g thorium or 20 mu g uranium(IV)/ 10 ml measuring solution can be determined with a relatively high accuracy.
