MESON STOP DETECTOR

A scintillation stop detector is described which has high selective sensitivity (ratio of recording efficiency for stopping particles to that of passing ones, K approximates 50). The response of the detector was investigated with 75-Mev pi /sup +/ mesons. The dependence of the meson counting rates on the pulse delay and moderator thickness is discussed. (D.L.C.)
