THE MOMENTUM SPECTRUM OF COSMIC RAY MUONS NEAR SEA LEVEL IN THE MOMENTUM RANGE 5 TO 1000 Gev/c

Journal Article · · Proc. Phys. Soc. (London)
The momentum spectrum of cosmic ray muons in the vertical direction at Durham has been measured for the momentum range 5-1000 Bev/c. The high maximum detectable momentum has been made possible by the modification of the original spectrograph by the addition of neon flash-tube arrays at the measuring levels. The work described is based on 14,558 particles, 4,520 of which had momenta above 20 Bev/c. Comparison with other workers shows that the spectrum is in good agreement up to 100 Bev/c. (auth)
