Journal Article · · Ann. Rev. Phys. Chem.
Developments in the properties of liquid and solid He/sup 3/ and He/sup 4/ and in applications of the Mossbauer effect are discussed. The superfluid phase of liquid He/sup 3/ is discussed along with the properties of the liquid and solid along the melting line. Significant recent developments associated with the equilibrium thermodynamic properties of the condensed phases of He/sup 4/ and the thermohydrodynamics of liquid He II are outlined. Low-temperature applications of the Mossbauer effect in solid-state physics and magnetism are also given. 167 references are included. (P.C.H.)
