REACTIONS A$sup 40$(pp)A$sup 40$ AND A$sup 40$(p$gamma$)K$sup 41$ DETERMINATION AND STUDY OF CERTAIN EXCITED STATES OF K$sup 4$$sup 1$ (in French)

The Ar/sup 40/(p gamma )K/sup 41/ reaction is studied in the range of proton energies from 1 to 1.65 Mev, using a thin target of natural argon gas. Seventy excited levels in K/sup 41/ are observed. Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of protons from Ar/sup 40/ are measured for the center of mass scattering angles 166 deg 00, 141 deg 50', and 125 deg 16' for laboratory proton energies between 1 and 1.95 Mev. These data are analyzed in terms of the single-level approximation of the dispersion theory. The results yield the following resonance energies (Mev) and assignment of spin and parity for the compound nucleus K/sup 41/: 1.875 (3/2/sup -/) and 1.890 (3/2). (auth)
